Black Friday through Cyber Monday is the most predictable four days on the 2026 retail calendar, and Bain expects it to grow faster than the holiday season around it. For Houston businesses, that means the video you publish in the next three weeks decides whether shoppers find you or a bigger name first.
This guide covers what the forecast says, what Houston shoppers told Deloitte last year, and seven video moves you can ship before Black Friday on November 27, 2026.
What Does the 2026 Black Friday Forecast Say?
Bain & Company's Black Friday 2026 forecast, first published October 12, 2026, reports:
- The size: Retail sales from Black Friday through Cyber Monday are expected to top $85 billion.
- The growth: The four-day window is likely to grow 8.75% year over year, outpacing Bain's overall holiday season growth forecast of 4.5%.
- The share: Those four days account for about 8.5% of total holiday season spending.
- The shoppers: About 90% of US consumers plan to shop Black Friday, Cyber Monday or another major sales event. Bain's survey (1,105 respondents in 2026) shows Black Friday intent at 64%, up from 55% a year earlier, and shoppers who skip promotional days falling from 25% to 10%.
- The channel hint: With e-commerce growth accelerating, Bain predicts Cyber Monday will crack the top five shopping days this year.
These are national figures from a consulting firm's research, not a Houston count. Use them as a planning signal, not a promise.
How Do Houston Shoppers Behave Around Deals?
The closest local data is Deloitte's annual Houston survey of about 400 residents, reported by the Houston Chronicle on December 6, 2025. It is last year's survey, so read it as direction, not a 2026 measurement:
- 78% said they planned to shop October and Thanksgiving week deals.
- "Getting a great deal" was the top criterion for choosing where to shop.
- 61% said they would swap preferred brands for cheaper alternatives.
- Planned holiday spending was projected to drop 11% from the prior year.
Put those together and the picture is clear: shoppers are leaving the house, or opening the app, with a deal in mind and a willingness to switch. The business that states its offer clearly and shows proof gets the click. For more on how Houston consumers split into two audiences this season, see our post on the Houston K-shaped consumer.
7 Video Moves for Houston Brands Before Nov. 27
Save this list. It works for retailers, restaurants, salons, gyms, auto shops and service businesses.
1. The offer in the first second. Put the deal on screen immediately: "Houston, 20% off through Cyber Monday." Do not make people wait for it.
2. The countdown clip. One 10-second video per day from Nov. 24 to Nov. 30, each ending on the same call to action. Only state dates and terms you have confirmed.
3. The founder-led walkthrough. The owner shows the three best-value items or services, on camera, in one take. Real people earn trust faster than logos.
4. The proof clip. A real customer reaction or before-and-after from your own work, shot in your own location. Never use invented testimonials.
5. The Houston-specific angle. Name the neighborhood, the parking and the hours. "Open Black Friday 8 a.m., free parking behind the shop" beats a generic sale post.
6. The Cyber Monday clip. Shoppers research on their phones, so film a vertical clip that shows how to order online or book, step by step.
7. The keyword caption. Write captions such as "Houston Black Friday deals" and "Small Business Saturday Houston" so search engines and AI assistants can match the clip to real questions.
Keep each video to one idea, post natively on Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts and your Google Business Profile, and make the first second work with the sound off. If you want the neighborhood-focused version of this plan, our post on Small Business Saturday in Houston covers Nov. 28 in detail.
Why Is Video the Right Tool for a Deal Window?
A four-day window leaves no time to wait for results. Short video can be shot in an afternoon, posted the same day and cut into multiple versions. It also gives deal-hunters something a text post cannot: proof that your place is real, open and worth the trip. Pair that with a clear offer and you meet the shopper at the exact moment they are comparing options.
