The Michelin Guide Texas 2026 selections are revealed today, Thursday, October 8, 2026, and for the first time there is no in-person ceremony. The stars, Bib Gourmands and Recommended picks go out by press release and through Michelin's website and app. That means no stage moment and no red carpet. Each Houston restaurant has to make its own moment on video, and the ones that post first will get most of the attention.
Here's what changed, what Houston is defending, and a 72-hour video plan for restaurants that made the list, plus one for those that didn't.
When Is the Michelin Guide Texas 2026 Announced, and Why Is There No Ceremony?
Michelin set the 2026 Texas reveal for the morning of October 8 and said there would be no awards ceremony this year. The selection is published through Michelin's website and app, MichelinMedia.com and a press release to media. (DiningOut)
That's a real shift for Houston. The city hosted both earlier Texas ceremonies: the inaugural one at 713 Music Hall downtown in November 2024, and the 2025 edition at the Wortham Center. In both years, the ceremony gave chefs stage photos, livestream clips and a news cycle. In 2026, that content has to come from the restaurants themselves.
What Houston Has on the Line in the 2026 Michelin Guide
Michelin's Texas guide covers Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio. Going into today, according to a Houston Chronicle preview:
- 6 Houston restaurants hold one Michelin star. In 2025 they were BCN Taste & Tradition, CorkScrew BBQ, Le Jardinier, March, Musaafer and Tatemó.
- 22 Houston restaurants hold Bib Gourmand recognition.
- 140 restaurants statewide were recognized in 2025, including 18 with one star.
- No Texas restaurant has two or three stars yet.
Michelin has also been handing out 2026 Keys to hotels, and local coverage reports that five Houston hotels earned them, including the new Hotel Daphne in the Heights. Hotel restaurants and bars have a second reason to be on camera this week.

Why a Digital-Only Reveal Changes Restaurant Marketing
A ceremony gives everyone the same content at the same time. A press-release reveal gives the attention to whoever reacts fastest and most personally. Diners will search the restaurant's name today and this weekend. Food media will need visuals. Instagram and TikTok will reward the first honest, human reaction over the polished one that arrives next week.
The pattern is clear: the award is earned in the kitchen, but the reservations it brings are won on the screen. A star you don't show on video gets you a mention in an article. A star you do show gets a waiting list.
The 72-Hour Michelin Video Plan for Houston Restaurants (Save This)
Hour 0 to 6: the reaction.
- Film the team finding out, or reading the news together. Phone footage is fine. Keep it under 30 seconds.
- Put the answer in the first second: on-screen text like "We just earned a Michelin star" or "Bib Gourmand, year two."
- Caption it with search keywords: your restaurant name, "Michelin Houston," your neighborhood and your cuisine.
Hour 6 to 24: the proof.
- One dish, one idea, one video. Show the plate that best explains why you were recognized, filmed close and slow.
- Put the chef or owner on camera for 20 seconds: who you are and what the recognition means. Founder-led video is the format people trust most right now.
- Update your Google Business Profile, website hero and reservation page the same day so the search traffic lands somewhere current.
Hour 24 to 72: the reason to book.
- A behind-the-scenes clip of prep, sourcing or the line at service. That's the craft diners will be paying for.
- A "what to order on your first visit" video. It's save-worthy, shareable and answers the question every new guest has.
- A thank-you to your team and regulars. It's the post that gets the most shares and keeps the moment from looking like bragging.
What If Your Houston Restaurant Wasn't Named?
Most Houston restaurants won't be on the list, and that's fine. The Michelin news cycle still raises interest in Houston dining as a whole for the next few weeks. Use it:
- Post what you do best this week: a signature dish, a chef story or a regular's favorite. Don't mention Michelin at all.
- Lean on local specificity, like your street, your neighborhood and your family history. That's something a guidebook can't copy.
- Start building the video library now, so if an inspector or a food writer comes looking next year, there's something worth finding.
Where Freddyville Media Fits
We're a Houston video production company, and restaurant content that has to land fast is work we plan, shoot and turn around quickly. Here's how it maps to what we do:
- Always-On Content: a monthly batch of short-form video, so a Michelin week, a new menu or a holiday push lands as planned content instead of a scramble.
- Flagship Films: a chef or restaurant film for your website, press kit and reservation page. It's made to last well beyond this news cycle.
- Production Partnership: an embedded crew for hospitality groups and agencies covering several concepts or hotel outlets at once.
- AI Video Production: AI-assisted edits, captions, cutdowns and translated versions that move faster, with human craft on every frame.
Our offer this week: send us your restaurant's name and what happened today, and we'll send back a free 72-hour shot list built around your recognition, or around your best dish if you weren't named. Start a project and we'll reply within one business day.
